Benefits of Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Increased Muscle Mass:

Testosterone replacement therapy produces an increase in a man’s lean body  mass (muscle mass) for men with Low T. Patients usually see an increase in  muscle, often three to six pounds of lean muscle within the first few months of  treatment. If the individual is working out that number can increase as exercise  and diet can help improve gains. As men age, they lose muscle mass, normally  at a rate of 0.5 to 1.0% annually after they turn 40. This decrease in mass  speeds up especially if the man has low T. Loss of muscle slows resting  metabolism and the cycle gets worse. With TRT, increases in your lean body  mass helps raise your metabolism and burn fat, keeping you fit and healthy as  you age. Don’t worry about getting too big though while on TRT…Once hormone  levels stabilize, increases in muscle level off, usually around six months of  treatment.

Improved Mood:

The evidence is quite clear, though, that low testosterone significantly affects  mood in hypogonadal males. Multiple studies using testosterone therapy have  shown that testosterone therapy affects mood favorably. It’s also worth noting,  several studies have shown that mood improves rapidly in a matter of days or  weeks rather than months. For example, one study on Androgel showed that  almost all the improvement in mood happened within 30 days in men on  Androgel. Androgel is not known for really pushing one’s testosterone levels that high. Men on injections will undoubtedly feel even stronger and more rapid  elevations in mood.

More Energy…Less Fatigue:

Men with Low T often complain of feeling lethargic. They come home and want to  sit on the couch instead of going out to play in the yard with their kids. Once upon  a time, they would be able to run all day and hit the gym at night before going out  on the town, but now they seem to be a former shell of themselves. TRT can help  improve energy levels and help a man regain the vitality they used to have. Men who start TRT and begin to experience increased energy levels, which in turn  can help improve their overall quality of life. Men with low T often reported  extreme fatigue and decreased energy levels. If you’re tired all of the time or if  you find it difficult to get motivated to hit the gym and work out, you may have  Low T.

Better “Vitality and Vigor” (Improved Sexual Performance and Libido):

Testosterone levels naturally rise in response to arousal and activity.  Testosterone levels fall off during long periods of abstinence. In turn, more  testosterone boosts libido, continuing the cycle. Testosterone has been shown to  have a positive effect on a man’s sex drive and performance in the bedroom.  Studies have also showed that women are more attracted to men who have  higher levels of testosterone. It also helps many men improve their ability to get  and sustain erections, so over all TRT will dramatically improve your love life.

Less Fat, More Muscle:

Leaner body mass helps keep weight in balance and increases energy levels.  There has been some evidence to suggest that testosterone treatment can reduce fat and increase muscle mass and strength. This effect is more significant  if one combines treatment with weight training and exercise. A recent study tested 108 men over the age of 65 and showed that testosterone  treatment significantly reduced body fat, especially in the arms and legs. Those  same men all had increases in their lean mass, mostly in the torso and  abdominal area. The men had been treated with testosterone for 36 months.

Healthy Heart and Blood:

A healthy heart pumps blood throughout the body, which gives our muscles and organs  the oxygen needed for optimal performance. Low T levels are linked to several cardiovascular risks. According to the Harvard  Medical School, testosterone replacement therapy can widen the coronary arteries. This  possibly can be very helpful for men with angina, chest pain, and pressure when your  heart isn’t receiving enough blood. Testosterone also can cause a rise in red blood cell counts, which is an excellent thing if  you suffer from anemia (low red blood cell count).

Frequently Asked Questions: Testosterone Replacement Therapy

  • What Is Testosterone Replacement Therapy?

Testosterone is a sex hormone that is important for men as it is the bio-chemical  responsible for most sexual characteristics in men. Testosterone is in other  words, the “male sex hormone.” Testosterone is the substance responsible for  giving men the physical traits most often associated with being a man– body and  facial hair, a deep voice, bigger/stronger muscles and more. During puberty,  testosterone will helps build muscle, deepens a male’s voice, and increase the  size of their testes and penis. During adulthood, testosterone will keep a man’s  muscle and bones strong and provides men with their sex drive or libido. Men’s  testosterone levels usually peak in their late teens and then unfortunately, after  the age of 28-30, most men start experiencing a slow and steady drop in their  testosterone at a rate of 1-2% a year. When a man reaches 40, he’ll have a level  significantly lower and if left untreated will experience a myriad of unwanted  symptoms. A decline in libido and sex drive typically occurs when T levels fall,  just to name a few of the problems that begin to occur. Many men chalk this up to  just the natural part of aging and getting older. Fortunately there are things that  we can do to help. The experts at The Med Spot can assist you to regain the  vitality that you once had through our individualized hormone replacement  therapy regimen.

Ultimately, testosterone replacement therapy is a form of hormone replacement  when we supplement your hormone levels, with bio-identical testosterone, to a  therapeutic level, within normal ranges, typically between 300 to 1100 for adult  men. We effectively bring your T levels back to a range where you will begin to

feel more vibrant and healthy. TRT is usually prescribed to counter the symptoms  of male hypogonadism or andropause, also called Low T. It’s most commonly  administered either by injection or by use of skin creams and gels containing  testosterone, however some men opt for testosterone pellets or patches. Some  of the signs of Low Testosterone can include: · Depression · Low libido and sex  drive · Lack of energy and fatigue · Decreased muscle tone and mass · Hair loss  · Mood swings and Irritability · Lowered sense of self confidence · Mental Blocks  and lack of drive and focus · Difficulty achieving and maintaining erections · Increases in body fat and weight gain , just to name a few.

At The Med spot we consider ourselves to be more than a Testosterone Therapy  Clinic. Our goals with our patients are to help improve their health, mood,  appearance and performance in the bedroom for them to lead a happier, more  balanced lifestyle, both physically and emotionally.

  • How can you tell if you have low Testosterone?

At The Med Spot, we combine the patient’s results from blood tests a physical  exam conducted by our physician, and a detailed past medical history to get a  bigger picture to diagnose a patient with Low T. After this very simple, easy and  convenient process which can be done in our office on the first visit, we review  the test results and findings with the patient. The Medical Provider can make a  diagnosis of low testosterone (male hypogonadism) and potentially begin  treatment. To determine what the underlying cause of low testosterone, we may  need to perform additional tests, like:

    • hormone testing: If a pituitary abnormality is suspected by  the doctor as the cause of low testosterone, we might have  patients run additional hormone tests to evaluate some of  the other pituitary hormones.

Once we have an accurate diagnosis of low t, we can start to develop an all  inclusive treatment plan and HRT protocol for each individual patients unique  needs.

Sexual Health

Erectile Dysfunction

Okay guys, no one wants to admit when there is a problem. Get over it! If you live  long enough, you will experience some form of ED.

Erectile dysfunction is generally thought of as a condition only affecting older  men, but a new study shows just how many young men may also have ED. The  study published in “The Journal of Sexual Medicine”, shows that one in four men  at an outpatient clinic who sought help for erectile dysfunction (a condition where  a man has a problem having or maintaining an erection) was actually under the age  of 40. Plus, nearly half of those men under age 40 — 48.8 percent of them had a  severe case of the sexual condition, compared with 40 percent of men older than  age 40.  So when it happens, seek help from medical professionals!

A much more common problem that affects the majority of men at some point in  their life is the occasional failure to achieve an erection, which can occur for a  variety of reasons, such as from drinking too much alcohol or being extremely  tired. Failure to achieve an erection less than 20% of the time is not unusual and  treatment is rarely needed. Failure to achieve an erection more than 50% of the  time, however, generally indicates there is a problem requiring treatment.

Simply put, erectile dysfunction is the failure to obtain or sustain an erection firm  enough for sexual intercourse. This condition can be absolute, meaning you are  unable to have erections at all or it may just happen every once in a while.

The Med Spot utilizes two major prescription drug brands to help treat male erectile dysfunction. This allows men to get helpful and friendly medical advice with the ease of E-Prescribing the medication to a local pharmacy of your choice! The Med Spot is the easiest and most convenient way to get the prescription-grade sexual health supplements you need!

  • About Viagra:

Viagra is a brand-name prescription drug that’s approved to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). With ED, you’re unable to have or maintain an erection. Viagra is approved for this use in males ages 18 years and older. Viagra contains the drug sildenafil. It belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. (A class of drugs is a group of medications that act in a similar way.) Viagra works by increasing blood flow to your penis, which helps you have and keep an erection. But this drug only works if you’re sexually aroused. Viagra comes as tablets that are taken by mouth. In most cases, it should be taken about an hour before sexual activity, but it can be taken 30 minutes to 4 hours beforehand. Viagra is available in three strengths: 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg.

In several clinical studies, Viagra was effective in treating ED. In these studies, men who used the drug had an improved ability to have and keep erections that allowed for successful sex. Across the studies, between 43% and 83% of men who took Viagra had improved erections. (These rates varied depending on the cause of their ED and the dosage of Viagra being used.) In comparison, improved erections occurred in 10% to 24% of men who took a placebo (no active drug).

  • What are the side effects of Viagra?

Viagra can cause mild or serious side effects. The following lists contain some of the key side effects that may occur while taking Viagra. These lists don’t include all possible side effects. For more information on the possible side effects of Viagra, talk with your doctor or the medical providers at The Med Spot.

Mild Side Effects of Viagra Can Include:

    • headache flushing indigestion, blurred vision, and sensitivity to light, nasal congestion, back pain, muscle pain, nausea, dizziness, rash

    Serious Side Effects of Viagra:

    • Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), which is an eye condition that causes damage to your optic nerve. Symptoms can include: sudden decrease in vision in one or both of your eyes sudden loss of vision in one or both of your eyes. Sudden decrease or loss of hearing. This condition may also involve other symptoms, such as: tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in your ears), dizziness
  • About Cialis:

Cialis is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of erectile dysfunction. Cialis may be used alone or with other medications. Cialis belongs to a class of drugs called Phosphodiesterase-5 Enzyme Inhibitors. When taken under a medically supervised program, Cialis relaxes the smooth muscles and arteries inside the penis. At the same time, it also increases blood flow to the penis. When aroused, this combination of relaxation and increased blood flow allows the penis to fill with blood, which results in an erection. It’s important to remember that Cialis only works if you are sexually aroused.

  • How Quickly Does Cialis Work?

First, Cialis works relatively quickly but not as fast as Viagra. It can take 1 – 2 hours for the full effects of Cialis to kick in, though it only takes about an hour for Viagra to work fully. On the other hand, the effects of Cialis last noticeably longer than the effects of Viagra, normally up to 36 hours. That’s a full 1.5 days! Don’t be alarmed, though; that doesn’t mean you’ll have an erection for 1.5 days straight. That would be an emergency, which we’ll talk about soon. But you may be able to achieve an erection with the help of Cialis throughout the 36-hour time period. This is one of the reasons some men prefer Cialis; it allows for more spontaneous sexual activity. If your erection lasts longer than 4 hours, even if it’s not painful, consider it a medical emergency. Known as priapism, this condition can cause permanent damage to the tissue that allows you to become erect. People with sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia, and some penile deformities are more likely to have a prolonged erection.

  • What are the side effects of Cialis?

Aside from a prolonged erection, which is an emergency, possible side effects of Cialis include:

    • flushing
    • headache
    • nasal congestion
    • heartburn
    • back pain / muscle pain

You might wonder how long you can safely use Cialis. Right now, there isn’t a maximum period of time for safely taking the medication. But as the years pass, you may begin taking other drugs, such as blood pressure or anti-fungal medications that could be dangerous if combined with Cialis, Viagra, and similar ED drugs. Always be sure the medical providers at The Med Spot know what other medications you are or plan to be taking.

Risk Factors of Erectile Dysfunction

Age:

There is a correlation in age and the increase incidence of ED. The  correlation relates more to the diseases associated with getting old rather than  the fact of getting older. There is no reason a man and/or a woman can not  enjoy a healthy sex life well into their 80's and beyond!

Race:

The fact is some minority groups face higher rates of ED.

Health Status:

70% of ED cases are attributed to the following conditions:  diabetes, kidney disease, alcoholism, multiple sclerosis, atherosclerosis,  vascular disease, endocrine disorders and neurologic disease.2 ED maybe a  marker for overall cardiac function and could be a sign pointing to a more  serious condition that needs to be evaluated.

Weight:

Obese men have a much higher incidence of ED and Low  testosterone.

Mental Health:

Physiological issues such as stress, guilt, depression and  anxiety can contribute to ED.

Lifestyle:

Increase use of alcohol, prescription medications, smoking or  illegal drugs increase the incidence of ED. In fact, for men under the age of  40, smoking is the biggest reason for ED. Maintaining an erection requires  healthy blood supply and nicotine causes blood vessels to contract.

Medications:

A number of medications prescribed to men can take a toll on  their sex lives, and may even cause ED. Common prescribed medications for  blood pressure, antihistamines, antidepressants and diuretics can actually cause ED.

The Med Spot utilizes the 2 major prescription drug brands for helping treat male erectile dysfunction: Viagra The Med Spot allows men to get the helpful and friendly medical advice with the ease of E-Prescribing medication to a local pharmacy of your choice! We will treat every individual as we would want to be treated ourselves. Excellent and personable service, honesty, respect, and medical safety are our highest priorities.

At The Med Spot of Rome, NY we have a unique perspective on getting healthy and losing weight. Here, it is more about making long term lifestyle changes vs. enrolling in just another “fad diet.” Unfortunately, it is easy to fail when trying to make healthier changes because either the initial goal set is unrealistic or the manner in which one attempts to reach that goal is unrealistic for long term maintenance. We have all seen this vicious cycle of setting unhealthy goals, strictly restricting caloric intake, excessively exercising, and still not meeting one’s own expectations. It is so easy to get discouraged in this seemingly never-ending-cycle and not only stop losing weight, but actually end up gaining more than one’s initial start weight. This cycle not only harm one’s physical well-being, but also one’s mentality and emotional state. Each of these factors are important in obtaining and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

At The Med Spot, we take a more holistic approach. We will help you succeed by customizing a nutrition and fitness plan just for your schedule, so that being healthy becomes a lifestyle. We strive to not only help you lose weight, but to focus more on what we like to call “non-scale victories.” These non-scale victories help one prioritize all aspects of leading a healthy lifestyle without feeling you are defined by a number on the scale.

We encourage our clients to refrain from obsessing about the scale, but instead:

  • Focus that attention on preventing cardiovascular disease
  • Focus on preventing hypertension or lowering blood pressure if it’s already elevated
  • Focus on preventing diabetes or lowering one’s blood glucose or A1C levels if already DM diagnosed
  • Focus on preventing high cholesterol levels or lowering those levels if already diagnosed with them elevated
  • Focus on measuring inches, as those may decrease without the number on the scale changing very much

At The Med Spot, we guarantee to provide you unending support and encouragement every step of the way, while you take charge of your health.

"Live more, weigh less.

Create a life you love."

Health Risks of Obesity

At The Med Spot we recognize that while sedentary lifestyle is the most common cause of obesity, there are some other predisposing risk factors that could put one at an increased risk of being overweight or obese. These include:

Genetics

There is a lot of contradicting data about whether certain genes play a factor in increasing one’s chance of being obese. The older data states there is a direct relationship between the two, while more recent data from the Center of Disease Control (CDC) states it is a combination of certain genes and outside factors (physical inactivity or abundant food supply) that increase one’s susceptibility to obesity.

Family Lifestyle

According to research by the National Institute of Health (NIH), it appears that an individual is more likely to gain weight (or become obese) if a close friend or family member has increased their weight. For instance, if one sibling were to become obese, it increased the other sibling's chances of becoming obese by 40 %. Similarly, it concluded if one spouse became obese, it increased the other's chances of becoming obese by 37 %.

Medical Problems

There are certain medical problems that can increase one’s risk of being obese. These include under-active thyroid (hypothyroidism), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and Cushing’s syndrome.

  • Hypothyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. This results in feeling fatigued and weak while slowing down one’s metabolism.
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a condition affecting ~ 5 - 10% of females of child-bearing age. In this condition, there is an increase in androgen hormones, which can cause weight gain, reproductive problems, and excessive hair growth.
  • Cushing’s syndrome is a condition in which the body makes too much of a hormone called cortisol. The excess of this hormone can cause weight gain, central obesity, and a round-like face.
  • Low testosterone occurs in many men and women after age 40, as part of the aging process. The problem with “low T” is its association with obesity, loss of energy and effects on sex drive and moods. Patients who are age 40 or older are encouraged to have their testosterone blood levels tested, and if they are low may be given the option of using testosterone replacement therapy.

Medications

There are certain medications which can increase your appetite, cause you to retain extra water-weight, and/or slow down the rate at which calories are burned in the body. These include seizure medications, antidepressant medications, and most commonly known, corticosteroids.

Age

As one gets older, he or she tends to lose muscle mass (especially if not active). When this happens, that loss of muscle can slow down the rate at which the body burns calories. According to the NIH, most women gain at least 5 pounds during menopause and have an increased amount of fat tissue around the waist.

Lack of Sleep

According to the NIH, research has proven a direct link between lack of sleep and obesity.

  • Without a consistent sleep pattern, there is a direct imbalance of two hormones: ghrelin (makes you feel hungry) and leptin (makes you feel full). When you don’t get enough sleep, or enough consistency, your levels of ghrelin increase, while your leptin levels decrease.
  • Sleep also affects how the body reacts to insulin. Insulin is the hormone which controls your glucose (sugar) levels. Again, without enough sleep or too much inconsistency with sleep, blood glucose levels may rise, increasing the risk for type 2 diabetes.
  • Those who sleep fewer hours on a consistent basis were shown to consume foods that were both higher in calories and carbohydrates (leading to weight gain).

Smoking Cessation

According to the NIH, there are two main reasons that smoking cessation results in weight gain. Nicotine raises the rate at which the body burns calories, so when you stop smoking, there are usually fewer calories burned. The second reason is that food usually tastes better after the cessation smoking.

Prescriptive, Medical Weight Loss

Semeglutitide Injections

We are very excited to be one of the first medical weight loss offices to offer this newly weight loss injection!

In June 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved semaglutide (once weekly) for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or who is overweight for use in addition to a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity. This under-the-skin injection (subcutaneous) is the first approved drug for chronic weight management in adults with general obesity or overweight since 2014.The clinical studies showed dramatic results, with the average individual losing 15-20% of their body weight during the clinic trial.

  • How Does it Work?

Semaglutide works by mimicking a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite and food intake; it is a powerful appetite suppressant. It also works by increasing the production of insulin and appears to enhance growth of β cells in the pancreas, which are the sites of insulin production. Additionally, it inhibits glucagon, which is a hormone that increases blood sugar. It has been known to aid not only in weight loss, but helps to lower glucose levels in those who are pre-diabetic or who have type 2 diabetes.

    • Delays stomach emptying, leading to a feeling of fullness and smaller meal size
    • Slows intestinal motility
    • Lowers blood sugars, in part by reducing the production of sugar in the liver
    • Stimulates insulin secretion by the pancreas
  • What to Expect

For your initial visit, you will need to schedule an appointment with our office. Upon arriving for your appointment, you will have a little paperwork to complete and then you will have your consultation with one of our Board Certified Nurse Practitioner’s who will use their discretion (based on the FDA recommendations for treating obesity) to determine if semaglutide is a safe and good option for you. They will carefully screen you by evaluating your past medical history, any current medications you take, vital signs, and your body mass index (BMI).

You are NOT a good candidate for semaglutide if you have any of the following: diabetic retinopathy, low blood sugar, decreased kidney function, pancreatitis, medullary thyroid cancer (or a family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma), or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2.

Since the semaglutide injection does not help increase energy or boost metabolism, we recommend pairing it with our vitamin b-12 injections and/or lipotropic injections.

Phentermine (Adipex)

Phentermine, also known as generic Adipex, is a well-established medication that has been successfully used to treat obesity for over 60 years. It was approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in 1959. Since that time, it has helped millions achieve their health and fitness goals.

  • How Does it Work?

Phentermine is an appetite suppressant, meaning it decreases the sensation of hunger, cravings, and binge eating. However, it is also a Central Nervous System stimulant, meaning it helps to increase energy level.

We offer phentermine tablets, as well as, phentermine capsules and the primary difference between the two is that tablets are more immediate-release, whereas capsules are more time or delayed-release.

  • What to Expect

For your initial visit, you will need to schedule an appointment with our office.  Upon arriving for your appointment, you will have a little paperwork to complete and then you will have your consultation with our Nurse Practitioner who will use her discretion (based on the FDA recommendations for treating obesity) to determine if phentermine is a safe and good option for you. She will carefully screen you by evaluating your past medical history, any current medications you take, check your vital signs, and your body mass index (BMI).

You are NOT a good candidate for phentermine if you have uncontrolled hypertension, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, a history of heart attack and/or stroke, irregular heartbeat, are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you take a medication of the MAOI class.

Phentermine is not a simple or quick fix to being overweight. However, it is intended to assist you in of your initial weight loss regimen that includes incorporating healthier nutrition and lifestyle habits. It is our mission to help you achieve your health and weight loss goals through the use of nutritional counseling, fitness education, accountability, and continuous support.

Some of the other medications we offer are: topiramate, Saxenda, Contrave, Naltrexone.

  • More About This Injection

Vitamin B-12 is an essential water-soluble vitamin that influences fat and carbohydrate metabolism, as well as, food absorption. Vitamin B-12 is important for energy production and plays a key role in both a healthy metabolism and immune system. It also serves many biological purposes including healthy cognitive and nerve functions, as well as, memory and emotional well-being.

Therapeutic use of Vitamin B-12 has been proven effective for fatigue, depression, insomnia, and has even been useful in the treatment of osteoarthritis, bursitis, and asthma.

Vitamin B-12 injections are much more effective than an over-the-counter supplement because intramuscular absorption rate is much higher than pill-form. Your body is able to use it much more efficiently than something which has to pass through your GI system.

Vitamin B-12 can come in different types including cyanocobalamin (synthetic) and methylcobalamin (natural). At The Med Spot, we use the methylcobalamin form, which has been known to be longer-acting than the synthetic form. Additionally, our dose at 2,500 mcg per injection, is about 2.5 times the amount most offices offer.

Afraid of injections? Don’t worry, a lot of people are initially concerned about receiving an injection, but at The Med Spot we allow only trained medical professionals to administer the injections and we use hypodermic needles, which make the pain very minimal and brief.

Anti-Aging Therapy

Peptide Therapy

What is this?

Peptide therapy is quickly becoming a ‘must-have therapy’ for men and  women of all ages and lifestyles. Peptides Therapy Anti-Aging are  naturally occurring amino acids that help to correct hormone  imbalances; increase energy, cognition and mental focus; enhance sex  drive; improve bone density, skin elasticity, muscle tone and stamina;  lower body fat and cholesterol levels; decrease wrinkles; reduce  inflammation, decrease joint and muscle pain, repair tissues and so much  more!

Peptide therapy is also used to optimize the production and secretion of  growth hormone levels, which rapidly decline as we age. Growth  hormone levels affect age management, pain management, weight  management, general wellness and also help to manage symptoms of  chronic illness.

Frequently Asked Questions: Peptide Therapy

  • Who Can Benefit From Peptide Therapy and How Do I Get Started?

Everyone is a candidate for Peptide Therapy and can benefit in multiple  ways. Peptides come from US-based, FDA-regulated compounding  pharmacies, so a prescription from a medical provider is required. There  are several different types of peptide therapy benefits. We provide  complimentary medical phone consultations.

During your free  consultation, our providers will discuss the different peptide options and  make a recommendation based on your symptoms or goals. Your  prescription peptide will ship to your home address directly from the  compounding pharmacy.

  • What are Peptides?

Peptides occur naturally in the body and are present in every living cell.  Like proteins, peptides are composed of amino acids and created when  two or more amino acids are joined together.

There are 20 different amino acids in the human body and mixing  different combinations is what creates the various peptides and proteins  in the body. All peptides will have some effect on the cells of the body.  Different types of peptides influence different types of cells. Peptide  Therapy Near Me therapies help the body fight certain illnesses and  diseases.

Growth hormone (GH) is a protein that is made by the pituitary gland  and secreted into the bloodstream. In general, natural GH production  rises during childhood, peaks during puberty, and declines from middle  age onward. In children and adolescents, GH stimulates the growth of  bone and cartilage. In people of all ages, GH boosts protein production,  promotes the utilization of fat, interferes with the action of insulin, and  raises blood sugar levels. GH also raises levels of insulin-like growth  factor-1 (IGF-1).

Through the aging process, it’s common for people to experience  progressive health declines in areas of strength, aerobic capacity, and  energy among others. Growth hormone (GH) secretion also declines progressively with age, and many age-related changes are  similar in many ways to those signs and symptoms found in younger  adults with GH deficiency (AGHD).

When natural GH production declines, GH replacement can be used to  restore optimal concentrations to achieve and sustain a more youthful  anatomy and physiology.

But taking synthetic GH long term has potential side effects and health  risks including:

    • tachyphylaxis (reduced response and subsequent rejection)
    • diminished natural capacity for hormone production
    • swelling due to fluid in the body’s tissues
    • nerve, muscle, and joint pain

Therefore, optimizing the production and secretion of GH through the  use of GH releasing hormones (GHRH) or other GH Secretagogues  (GHS) can be a great addition to any fitness regimen or wellness  program. GHRH and GHS are not only safe and less expensive than  synthetic GH, but there are also no side effects or health risks.

Replacement of GH by stimulation of GH secretion with GH-releasing  hormone (GHRH) or other GH secretagogues (GHS) provides an  alternative to improve body composition, strength, aerobic capacity, and  mood. These natural GH releasers use a variety of amino acids, such as  glutamine, tyrosine, GABA, arginine, and lysine, to communicate with  the body to produce or release its own GH.

  • What are the signs of Growth Hormone decline?

    • Decrease in lean muscle mass
    • Decrease in bone density
    • Increased fat mass, particularly around waistline and abdomen
    • Loss of skin elasticity
    • Slow recovery from injuries

    • Increased total cholesterol and LDL, decreased HDL
    • Impaired glucose tolerance and insulin resistance
    • Increased anxiety and depression
    • Cognitive impairment
    • Fatigue
  • What are the benefits of Growth Hormones?

    • Decreased body fat
    • Increased muscle mass and strength

    • Improved fat burning
    • Improved energy
    • Improved sex drive and desire

  • How Long Will I Use Peptide Therapy?

Peptide therapies usually have a “loading” period of 3-6 months before  full effects and maximum benefit are noticed. In fact, unlike synthetic  growth hormone that has negative side effects of long term use, peptides  are natural and can be used indefinitely for maximum health benefit and  little to no side-effects.

  • How Are Peptides Administered?

Most peptides come in an injectable form. The pharmacy will ship you  all supplies you will need and instructions. Using a tiny insulin syringe,  you will give yourself a subcutaneous injection daily or 5 days a week.

There is an oral peptide for those who do not want to do an injection,  however, different peptides have different benefits. Our provider will  discuss options with you during your consultation.

  • What Is Medical Marijuana?

The term medical marijuana refers to using the whole, unprocessed  marijuana plant or it's basic extracts to treat symptoms of illness and other conditions. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not recognized or approved the marijuana plant as medicine. However, scientific study of the chemicals in marijuana, called cannabinoids, has led to two FDA-approved medications that contain cannabinoid chemicals in pill form. Continued research may lead to more medications. Because the marijuana plant contains chemicals that may help treat a range of illnesses and symptoms, many people argue that it should be legal for medical purposes. In fact, NYS and a growing number of states have legalized marijuana for medical use.

  • What Conditions Meet Medical Marijuana Criteria?

Beginning in the fall of 2018, both adults and minors (under the care of a legal adult guardian) NYS residency may apply for a standard medical marijuana card. The NYS law leaves much discretion to the physician to determine appropriate use. Since they have more research supporting their responsiveness to medicinal marijuana, these conditions commonly get approval from state programs and marijuana-friendly doctors:

    • Chronic pain
    • Severe nausea
    • Epilepsy and other seizure disorders
    • Terminal illness
    • Spasticity
    • Muscle spasms
    • Glaucoma
    • Inflammation
    • Cachexia and wasting syndrome
    • Cancer
    • Neuropathic pain disorders
    • HIV/AIDS
    • Crohn’s disease
    • Anorexia and bulimia

Offering assessment and certification for patients who are residents of NYS and have a diagnosis of a qualifying condition. Patients are responsible for supplying supporting medical records to meet NYS eligibility criteria.
